Sarah Allan
The Center

Since 1998, Sarah has been using arts and culture to foster community/economic development: First, at the Dwelling Place in Grand Rapids, MI, subsequently at New Kensington CDC in Philadelphia, and finally at The Center in Covington where she oversees their Creative Placemaking and  Economic Development programs. She has managed over $10 million dollars in arts-related development, including public art installations, historic building renovations, creative business start-ups, and the planning and implementation of an arts corridor. Sarah holds an MBA in Economic Development from Eastern University in Philadelphia, where she was also an Urban Studies adjunct professor for 11 years teaching the course “Arts and Community/Economic Development”. One of her key interests is determining how to use arts and culture to create civic spaces that encourage dialogue among a diversity of people.
